Outreach at George Mason Elementary School

In December ASDA held our first pediatric outreach event at George Mason Elementary school in inner city Richmond. The outreach event was sponsored by Crest-Oral B. On two separate Friday afternoons in December a group of 15 students visited the school to talk to kindergarten and first grade students about the importance of oral hygiene. Students were given a presentation on proper brushing and flossing techniques, healthy eating, and how to start good habits now. It is important for children to begin seeing the dentist regularly for cleanings and checkups at a young age, because this increases the likelihood that these children will continue these practices as adults. At the end of our visit each of the students received a toothbrush, toothpaste, and information about VCU’s Pediatric Dentistry Clinic.
